Everyone has a story to tell. I want to discover interesting stories and be the one to tell them. I immerse myself in sports journalism through classroom experiences and extracurricular involvements. I seek to maximize my opportunities in sports media at Indiana University by writing for the Indiana Daily Student as well as participating in radio and television broadcasting.


Emmitt Holt has matured on and off the court as a Hoosier

Four months ago, Emmitt Holt was preparing to attend Vermont Academy, a college preparatory school in the hills of Vermont. He had dreams of playing college basketball at a major Division I program and after graduating from high school, he only had scholarship offers from the likes of Drexel, Duquesne, Fairfield, Hofstra, Towson and Vermont. Indiana Rewind: A closer look at the Hoosiers’ rebounding woes against UIndy

Through seven exhibition games dating back to August, it’s apparent that Indiana could face an uphill battle in rebounding the ball effectively this season. The Hoosiers were among the top 30 teams in the country in offensive and defensive rebounding percentage last season, but that was in large part because of the efforts of former Indiana forward Noah Vonleh on the glass. My name is Andy Wittry and I'm a junior at Indiana University, where I'm majoring in journalism and pursuing a minor in marketing. I'm a member of the Ernie Pyle Scholars program, which is the IU School of Journalism's honors program.

I'm currently an Indiana men's basketball beat reporter for and the Bloomington Police Department beat writer for the Indiana Daily Student. My previous positions for the IDS include sports features writer, IU men's basketball beat writer, IU football beat writer and IU women's tennis beat writer.

Additionally, I broadcast IU athletic events for the Big Ten Digital Network and I have co-hosted weekly radio shows on WIUX, IU's student radio station.
